Glyde holds a separate wallet for each currency your business transacts in. Every request that moves money is tied to one currency, and a currency must be enabled for an operation before the API accepts it.

Currencies

If you send a currency that isn’t enabled for an operation, the request fails with 422:

Home Currency

Each business has a home currency, which comes from the country it is registered in. If you leave currency out of a request, Glyde uses the home currency. For example, a Nigerian business that omits currency transacts in NGN. Pass currency explicitly when you work with more than one wallet. This makes sure the right wallet is used.

Wallets

Balances are kept per currency. A transfer always debits the wallet that matches its currency, and funds never move between your NGN and ZAR wallets automatically. Use the currency query parameter to check a specific wallet:
If your business has no wallet in the requested currency, the API returns 404 with the message This business has no ZAR wallet.

Differences by Currency

/v1/banks returns banks for every supported market. Bank codes are only unique within a market, so the bank_code you send must belong to the payout currency’s country. Otherwise the transfer is rejected with Unrecognized bank code.

Amounts

Transfer amounts are given in major units of the payout currency. For example, 5000 with NGN sends ₦5,000, and 750 with ZAR sends R750. Fees are charged in the same currency as the transfer and are deducted from the same wallet.
